You are reading for yourself, conducting readings for others or you want to benefit from a reading in the Akashic Field- in any of these opportunities it is helpful for you to know what questions to ask. In this blog post, I will share with you 7 effective rules for creating questions, or what questions are worth asking in the Akashic Records. Maybe they will inspire you to think differently about what you can ask and how you can benefit from the Akashic Field.

Intention from the heart, or what questions to ask in the Akashic Records
Over the last 6 years of connecting with the Akashic Field for myself and others, I have noticed some correlations with regard to asking questions, which I have compiled into the principles listed here. Some of these I have discovered through trial and error, others through attending workshops or certifying as a coach. From all of these experiences, I’ve gathered tips to follow when asking questions.
However… what I see that is most important is pure intention coming from the heart when asking a question. That is, it is not so much important how you phrase the question, but more what you want to achieve by asking it. The principles I share are a support to help you arrange in your mind what you want to ask. And very possibly they will inspire you to look deeper. However, there is no need for you to think about the question with extreme seriousness. Let them flow to you.
When preparing your questions, think about why you are asking the question. Why do you want to find out this information? What is your motivation and intention in asking this question? The most important thing is to come with an open and innocent heart 🙂
Principle 1 – questions for your development, moving upwards
Each of us experiences challenges in our lives: health, relational, financial and many others. Sometimes you immediately know what the challenge is coming from and how to heal it, and in other cases you’re in over your head and don’t know.
This is where the Akashic Field comes in, where all the information about you is and where you can find guidance on how you can expand your awareness and turn the challenge into a precious life lesson. You can also ask for guidance on how you can resolve certain conflicts.
As long as your questions serve your well-being (and that of other beings) they can be specific or general. They can be about any topic that comes to mind that you are struggling with. The important thing is that the question helps you to develop your awareness.
When you ask questions it is worthwhile that they are directed towards resolution and healing, rather than tearing you apart. Sometimes asking ‘why’ can expand your awareness beautifully, but it is worthwhile that the next step is to ask how you can heal, love, or integrate the issue.
2nd principle – your responsibility
Although some people believe that in the Akashic Field you will be told what decision to make, this is not true. When asking a question, it is not worth treating the Akashic Field as an oracle that will tell you exactly what to do.
In the Akashic Records you may be given information regarding various possibilities, but the final decision as to what to choose is yours.
When we come down to Earth we have made the decision that we are coming into life fully. If we refer to the Akashic Field, or other esoteric methods, in order to give up responsibility for our lives and not make choices, it is as if we are running away from our lives.
The moment you use the information from the Akashic Field as a guide to make a decision you are showing your maturity.
3rd principle – focus on yourself
The only restriction in the Akashic Field is that you can only access information that is from your own soul wisdom (i.e. your own Akashic Field). When you want to ask about another person, you will get information about your relationship with that person (and not information from his/her Field).
Example: instead of asking ‘Does Luke love me? (this is his/her privacy) you can ask: ‘what is the reason that I have doubts about whether Luke loves me?’, or “what can I do to be sure that Luke loves me?” or “what my doubts about Luke’s love show me about myslef”.
Any situation in your life can serve to support you in understanding yourself. Others are there to support you in seeing certain patterns that are unconscious in you. Everyone is on their own unique path. Instead of channeling your energy and wondering about what others think, you might want to consider why this is so important to you 🙂 .
4th Principle – open questions
Open-ended questions are magical because with them you open yourself fully to the wisdom that comes from Source. You are not trying to limit yourself to two ‘yes’ or ‘no’ choices. Very often we think that there are only two ways, white or black, and in the Akasha Field it turns out that there are many more.
But in order to see them, it is necessary to ask an open question. One that does not insinuate any answer. Rather with complete openness and humility one opens up to whatever comes.
Usually open questions start with ‘how…?’, ‘how…?’, ‘why…?’, ‘what can I…?’, ‘why…?’, ‘what wants…?’.
5th Principle – phone to a friend
If you don’t know what question to ask you can ask your guides in the Akashic Field for support. That is, once you have connected with the spiritual guide, you ask to be prompted with a question. You can explain that you have a difficulty, a turmoil in your life and you do not know what question to ask about it (with the attitude of an innocent heart). In calmness and patience you wait for a question to come to you that you can ask about it.
6 The golden question principle
A few years ago I discovered two questions that work wonders every time. The first is ‘what is the most important thing for me to know for today?’ and the second is ‘what life lesson do I get out of this?’. Alternatively, one can ask ‘what gift is there from this?’.
Events, challenges in life always serve our development, so by asking this question we can suddenly grasp what is the purpose of these events in our lives. With this awareness, we no longer take them so seriously and can more easily change the pattern by which we have been using them so far (and thus ‘pass’ the life lesson). By asking yourself this question, you also open yourself up to your power- that by changing your perspective you are able to see the other side of a life challenge.
This is a similar concept to the well-known ‘post-traumatic growth’ in psychology, which refers to a positive psychological change experienced as a result of dealing with very challenging and highly stressful life circumstances. In this video you will learn more about the phenomenon of post-traumatic development. Link to video
7th principle – common sense
Remember also that the Akashic Records are not intended to replace medical, psychological or legal advice, although they may provide a different, deeper perspective on the issues involved. The Akashic Field serves to expand your consciousness, to your inner development, to support you through an atmosphere of love and acceptance.
However it is not medical or legal advice and it is worth bearing this in mind. I have not yet encountered a case where advice from the Akashic Field has caused harm, but sometimes they are not as specific as we need/want them to be. So for counselling, spiritual purposes, by all means, just remember that you can also seek advice in the material world 😉 .
How to ask a question well
Ultimately, most of the questions in the Akasha Field serve to either deepen insight or support taking action. It is therefore beneficial to take the form of one of the following:
- Insight questions: These questions reveal the true nature of the topic. They are often abouteficial step I can take towardsure of the situation is not perceived or understood. Example formats: What is it worth for me to know about X? What am I learnabouts a result of X? What do I miss about X?
- Action questions. What is the most beneficial step I can take towards on a topic: What can I let go of? What is beneficial for me to do in order to move forward? What is the most beneficial step I can take towards Y?
Effective question structure
It is most beneficial when questions are open-ended. Try not to ask questions where the answer is ‘yes/no’. Such questions have two disadvantages. Firstly, they limit the amount of information and insight that you can get. You don’t get as much information as you would in an open-ended question.
Secondly, yes/no questions obscure the element of choice. In life, we have a choice about what will happen. A yes/no question will give you the most likely answer about the situation, but will leave out all the contingencies and considerations, reducing your ability to navigate wisely.
When thinking about asking questions beyond the yes/no dichotomy, the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ questions are most useful. Beware of ‘when’ questions as they rarely get a satisfactory answer; like ‘yes/no’ questions, they tend to mislead (as in the Akashic Records there is no perspective of time). There is a wide range of time options in any situation.
Questions to clarify and support the transformation
During the session it is supportive to ask clarifying questions. You can enter into a dialogue with your spiritual guide. When you receive a symbol, a message, then you can ask for confirmation if you understand the message coming from it correctly. When you have understood a point, it is worth asking how on the physical plane you can implement this change in consciousness. You can ask for a technique, a ritual, or some other form of support that will help you in your daily life to remember your new way of looking at an issue and following a new path.
Summary
When asking questions in the Akashic Field, the most important thing is to have an attitude of an open, innocent heart. Be guided by it, and by doing so you will discover with greater ease the questions you wish to ask. Sometimes it is also useful to enter the Akashic Field without asking any question… to see what information flows to you on its own.

FAQ
1. What exactly is the Akashic Field?
The Akashic Field is a concept that comes from the tradition of Indian philosophy and has also been reflected in various cultures and spiritual movements. It is a kind of ‘storehouse’ of omniscience that contains information about the past, present and future. It is believed to contain records not only of our experiences, but also of the evolution of souls through various incarnations.
2. How do I access the Akashic Field?
Accessing the Akashic Field is a spiritual journey and a personal experience. There is no one specific method, but there are techniques that can help you on this journey. You can benefit from the support of an experienced person who can help you understand this spiritual space. Have a look at our online course on connecting with the Akashic Field or one-to-one sessions.
3. Does everyone have access to the Akashic Field?
Yes 🙂 Any person can connect to their Akashic Field and read the information it contains. The most important aspect is to put oneself in the right state – full of relaxation and connecting with the Heart Field. When we are relaxed, then the information flows more easily. It is also useful to learn to distinguish which information flows from the Field and which is information flowing from the mind. In the blog post ‘How to enter the Akashic Chronicles’ you will learn more about the process.
4. Is the Akshic Field an oracle that will tell me what decision to make?
Unfortunately no. The Akashic Field is a source of information. By receiving it, you broaden your understanding of an issue and thus may find it easier to make a decision that is closer to your heart.
5. Does a session in the Akasica Field replace legal advice or a visit to a doctor?
The Akashic Records are not intended to replace medical, psychological or legal advice, although they may provide a different, deeper perspective on the issues involved.
